Green Awards

The Sustainability Yearbook

Keppel Land is included in the Sustainability Yearbook 2012 which features the top 15% of the world's 2,500 largest companies in sustainability leadership. Keppel Land is also named the SAM Sector Mover 2012 in the Real Estate sector for achieving the greatest improvement in sustainability performance.

This year's edition of The Sustainability Yearbook provides an overview of the 13th Corporate Sustainability Assessment, which determines the companies that are included in this reference guide to the world's sustainability leaders.

ACCA Singapore Awards for Sustainability Reporting

Keppel Land bagged the Best Sustainability Report Award at the ACCA Singapore Awards for Sustainability Reporting 2011. Keppel Land was the sole winner for the Singapore Awards for Sustainability Reporting 2011 (formerly named ACCA Singapore Environmental and Social Reporting Awards). Keppel Land was also the finalist in 2005, 2007,2008 and 2010. The Award recognises Singapore organisations for excellence in environmental, social and sustainability reporting. It aims to encourage the uptake of environmental, social and/or sustainability reporting and raise awareness of corporate transparency issues and increase accountability for responsiveness to stakeholder.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

Keppel Land has been selected as an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (DJSI Asia Pacific Index) for two consecutive years – 2010 and 2011. The DJSI Asia Pacific Index captures the leading 20% in terms of sustainability out of the largest 600 companies in the developed Asia Pacific markets in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index.

For 2011, in addition to the DJSI Asia Pacific Index, Keppel Land has also been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World Index). The DJSI World Index consists of the top 10% in terms of sustainability out of the largest 2,500 companies in the Dow Jones Global Indexes.

The indices follow a best-in-class approach and include sustainability leaders from each industry on a global and regional level respectively. The annual review is based on a thorough analysis of corporate economic, environmental and social performance, assessing issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labor practices. It accounts for general as well as industry specific sustainability criteria.

Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) - Best Performer in Asia

Keppel Land has been ranked the Best Performer in Asia in the GRESB 2011, which positions us as a "Green Star" based on GRESB’s model of environment performance. Green Star refers to companies and funds with integrated organisational approach towards measurement and management of environmental key performance indicators, as well as steering on reduction of resource consumption and innovation in measures beyond energy efficiency.

The GRESB measures the environmental and social performance of real estate companies and funds. It is an annual survey conducted by GRESB Foundation, an initiative by large Dutch funds APG and PGGM, the Universities Superannuation Scheme and the European Centre for Corporate Engagement (Maastricht University). Areas covered in the survey include Management, Policy and Disclosure, Strategy & Analysis, Monitoring & Environment, Management Systems, Performance Indicators, Certification, Social Factors and New Development.

Global CSR Awards

Keppel Land clinched the Gold Award in the Product Excellence category for Ocean Financial Centre at the Global CSR Awards 2011 held in conjunction with the Global CSR Summit in Cebu, Phillippines.

The award is Asia's most prestigious recognition awards programme for CSR. The programme recognises and honors companies for outstanding, innovative and world-class products, services, projects and programmes implemented over 2010/2011.

Storebrand - Best in Class (Financials)

For Keppel Land's efforts to improve the environment and society while maintaining its strong financial performance, Keppel Land was bestowed the "Best in Class (Financials) " status by Norwegian financial institution Storebrand. This is the third time that Keppel Land has achieved this award.

Storebrand's Best in Class analysis methodology combine environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics with financial analysis. The Best in Class status is awarded to companies that are top performers both financially and on ESG factors. A total of 108 companies were analysed between November 2010 and June 2011 and 15 companies in the financial sector were qualified as Best in Class. Keppel Land scored the highest among other Singapore developers who were also in the list.

Solar Pioneer Award

For its contribution towards a sustainable future, Ocean Financial Centre(OFC) was conferred the Solar Pioneer Award on 30 November 2010. The award, in its second year, is co-organised by the Singapore Business Federation, Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore, Economic Development Board and the Energy Market Authority.

OFC when completed in the second quarter of 2011, will feature the largest photovoltaic (PV) cell installation in Singapore’s CBD. Over 400 sm of solar panels installed atop the development will produce renewal energy sufficient to light up an office space of more than 48,000 sf.

Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards

Keppel Land bagged the Merit Award in the Services category for its excellence in corporate environmental leadership at an awards ceremony in August 2010.

The judges were impressed by Ocean Financial Centre’s green features which can help achieve overall energy savings of 35%, save 42 million litres of water which is equivalent to the amount need to fill 21 Olympic-size swimming pools, as well as save more than 10,000 tress annually through reduction in paper usage. Innovation green features and measures include harvesting rain water for irrigation of rooftop gardens, recycling of condensate for the cooling tower, and the use of water-efficient tap fittings and paper recycling chute.

ASEAN Energy Awards

Keppel Land development, Hotel Sedona Manado in Indonesia, was recognised for its proactive and innovative environmentally responsible management practices. The hotel clinched the first runner-place in the ASEAN Best Practice Competition for Energy Management in Building and Industry(Small and Medium category).

This award comes shortly after the hotel was lauded for Best in Green and Environment Practices by The Government of North Sulawesi in June 2010.

Cityscape Asia Real Estate Awards - Best Green Development (Future) Award

Ocean Financial Centre has won the Best Green Development (Future) Award in the 2009 Cityscape Asia Real Estate Awards. An annual networking event attended by major international investors, property developers, leading architects and designers, key organisations and government authorities that have an interest in South East Asia and the surrounding Pacific Rim countries, the awards seek to recognise and reward Asia's real estate industry professionals and companies that have made significant contributions to Asia's progress in the real estate sector. Cityscape Asia 2009 is supported by FIABCI, URA and REDAS.

Judged by a panel of international judges, projects under the Best Green Development category were judged on practices that reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by efficiently using energy, water, and other resources, protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity and reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Award

Ocean Financial Centre is the first high-rise office building to be conferred the prestigious Platinum Level LEED for CS pre-certification (2009). The LEED system encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.

To achieve a LEED Platinum rating, the building must address the following criteria: site sustainability, efficiency with water, energy, atmosphere, materials, resources, indoor environmental quality, design innovation and regional priority.

BCA Green Mark Awards

The Green Mark Award scheme operated by Singapore's Building and Construction Authority (BCA) rates buildings for their environmental impact and performance. It takes into account energy and water efficiency, indoor environment quality, building management and environmental innovation, and serves as a benchmark which incorporates internationally-recognised best practices in environmental design and performance.

Since the introduction of the BCA Green Mark Awards in 2005, Keppel Land has attained 12 accolades, including the highest Green Mark Platinum for Ocean Financial Centre. The Green Mark Platinum is awarded to exemplary green projects that demonstrate 30% energy and water savings, as well as environmentally sustainable building practices and innovative green features.

Most Efficient Building Award by Ministry of Trade and Industry, Vietnam

Saigon Centre has been named one of the most eco-friendly developments, having been named the Most Energy Efficient Building (1st Runner-Up) by Vietnam's Ministry of Trade & Industry. The premier development employs a host of energy conservation features including energy-saving air conditioning, lighting and lift systems.

Marina at Keppel Bay - Clean Marina Award

Marina at Keppel Bay has achieved the Clean Marina Award from the Marina Industries Association of Australia.

Marina at Keppel Bay is the first and only marina in Asia to be awarded a 'Clean Marina' status under the Clean Marinas Australia Programme, a voluntary accreditation system to promote clean environmental practices in the marina industry business.

Caribbean at Keppel Bay - Landscape Industry Association of Singapore (LIAS) Awards of Excellence

Keppel Land's luxury waterfront condominium, Caribbean at Keppel Bay, which is home to some 2,200 shrubs and 800 trees, was bestowed two awards in the Landscape Industry Association (Singapore) Awards of Excellence 2006. It received the Gold Award in the Implementation - Residential category for the quality of plant materials used, installation techniques and craftsmanship. It also bagged the Silver Award in the Maintenance - Residential category for the condition of the plants and cleanliness of the site.
